I decided to write this post to explain what’s going on in my life. It’s basically just to avoid answering the same questions over and over again haha. And also ’cause I think I would like to re-read that post in a few months/years and see what I was up to then. Anyway, this introduces the first post on the serie ‘Life update’. There are certainly not going to have a post every week but every time there’s a ‘big change’ in my life, I’ll try to sum it up here.
As I’m writing this, we’re the 5th April 2019. 2 pm. I’ve officially just finished working with my host family here in Switzerland. This has been a wonderful experience as an aupair once again. (If you didn’t know, I’ve been an aupair during 2 years in Oxford, England). The kids I looked after are so adorable, kind, funny but also really smart. I absolutely loved looking after them. And I will miss them for sure!
It’s now Saturday 6th April 2019. 10 am. I am in the train, leaving Switzerland.
I went for the last time to the lake léman yesterday evening. Just an hour by myself sitting and admiring the view. I can’t count how many times I’ve been there during these 5 months. But with a view like this, only 5 minutes away from where I lived, how couldn’t I?
After that, it was time to party one last time with my friends before the big departure the next day. We had dinner together, drank ‘a bit’ of vodka and went clubbing. Don’t know if it was the brightest idea as my train was at 8.23 this morning. Meaning, I had to wake up at 7 to be sure I had packed everything, etc. Bad idea or not, it was great anyway. I had such a good time and came back home around 3 am which allowed me 4 beautiful hours of sleep.
Then, it was time to say goodbye. To my bedroom, to the house, to the mountains view, to Switzerland but especially to my hostfamily. My host mum and the kids came to the station with me and even ran next to the train as they didn’t want me to leave and trust me, I didn’t want either. But it is time for a new adventure.
So what now?
I’m on my way to France, to see my family a few days. I absolutely can’t wait to see them. Last time I saw them was at Christmas and at that time, my little sister was still in the tummy of my stepmum. How crazy that now she’s one month old.
Does it mean I stop travelling and I am going to live in France?
I’ll spend a few days at my parents house and then will go to England during 2 days. I’ll visit my previous host family and also take some summer clothes with me. Because, yes, I’ve got a few (lol, a lot) stuff still there.
On the 17th, I’ll take the plane to go to Spain. Well, technically, I’ll take it to Faro, Portugal as it’s the closest airport to where I’ll go. I will work and live there until the end of October. I won’t be an aupair but will still work with children : I will be a kid’s rep in a hotel. I’ve already done that job during 2 months in Greece last year and absolutely loved it so I can’t wait to do a full season this time.
So please now, don’t ask me what I’ll be doing after Spain. I kind of hate when people do that because I feel like I can’t live in the present by answering. And the truth is I don’t even know haha. All I know is I’ll be fine. And that’s the most important thing, right?
With love, Anaïs
