I was thinking about it for a long time now. But I was always finding excuses.
I don’t have time. I don’t have a camera. I have no idea how to do this. Blah blah blah.
The last week end of March though, I did it. I didn’t even think of it beforehand and it didn’t start well. Like, not at all. I was doing some exploring through Switzerland as it was my last week end living there. As usual, I shared some pictures of it on my Instagram story. Then I wanted to share a quick video of me explaining something. Just me talking in front of the camera. Nothing big. But I had never done it before. I struggled so much. I think I re-did the video at least 17 times. In the end, I never posted it. Why, you’re already asking? Because I felt awful about it. English isn’t my mother tongue and even though I think as myself as bilingual, I am well aware it’s not perfect. I still make a few mistakes when I speak. I still have that french accent that some people find cute (I don’t). My problem was (and has been for years now) my confidence. You might not know this but I am not self confident. And I am a perfectionist. The perfect combo lol. So listening to me talking in English on camera was absolutely awful. I hated it.
And then suddenly, I told myself ‘you know what? f*ck it‘. And I did it.
I filmed a vlog.
I always wanted to share some videos of my travels but never had the courage as I knew it would be kind of boring if I wasn’t talking in them. That’s the main reason I had never done it before. But that day, after being so ashamed of myself, I did it. Don’t get me wrong, I still had to start again and again before before being a bit satisfied with it.
I vloggued the whole week end and absolutely loved it. Then it was time to edit it. It took so long. I had no idea how to use the editor program but I managed to do something ok. I can’t wait to improve my skills to do better vlogs. In the meantime, here’s the first day of that week end exploring Switzerland one last time.
I don’t think I explained it in the vlog or maybe I did then deleted the sequence as I didn’t like the way it turned out hahah. But anyway, I felt like it needed a bit more explanation so here it is.
I had the Friday off that week which means I had 3 days to explore this beautiful country one last time. I bought a travel pass which allowed me to travel by bus, train and even boats during the 3 days. Oh, did I mention it was illimited as well? All of that for ‘only’ 200 CHF. It can seem expensive to give away all that money at once. But when you think about it, it’s really worth it. Switzerland is known to be an expensive country and I can’t disagree with that. So this is really a bargain. You can also use the ticket in 500 museums and have some discounts in some attractions. If you ever go there, you should really go for it. They’ve got passes for more than 3 days as well. Just check their website and I’m sure you’ll find something that suits you. Don’t know if I need to precise but I’m not sponsored by them and trust me, I wish I was haha.
If you liked watching the vlog, please like it and subscribe to be notified of the next vlog on my channel. It will be the second day of that trip. I am not gonna lie, I have no idea when it will be up as I haven’t started edit it yet and I’m going to work in Spain in less than 48h now soooo. I’ll keep you updated through my social medias though.
With love, Anaïs
